Sunsets

Every evening
Birds are singing
their final song.
As they nestle in.

A breeze caresses
My smooth cheek
as I lay watching the sky.

Admiring the sunset
That has used the sky
As it's blank canvas.

Hues of pink and orange
Spreading then slowly fading.

But above the sunset
stars show off their luster.

Showing their beauty
In millions of twinkling smiles.

Mountains

Crystalline waters below
Clear blue skies,
That hug the mountains
In their great grandeur.

As they tower over me
Making me feel so small, insignificant.
Breathing in the air
It is clean and pure.

Waterfalls are found here
Over flowing their boundaries, falling
Filling the air with thunder and mist
Creating little rainbows.

The birds are singing all around
and deer are playing in the lush meadows
Wildlife is all around, blending in.
These great mountains are their home.

Seemingly untouched by man
You have to look hard to see our mark
For they are greater than us
And more then we will ever be.

Dance of the Night

A sweet summer twilight
The curtains of day slowly fall
The stage of night is surely set
The wind begins to sing to the grass
The grass dances in accordance with her soft mumblings
The moon glances his spotlight
It sheds a gloomy aura
Upon the nocturnal dancers
The chirping orchestra begins to play
Perfectly in sync
Sparse mist begins to settle
Dowering the dancers with sparkling costumes
Dawn brings with it the grand finale
Sun grazed hues dazzle the stage
As a blaring haphazard mixture of lights and sound ensue
Seemingly unorganized, but completely in tune
The dancers slowly become tired and weary
And the inevitable sun rises
The grass lies calm and quiet
Until the curtain of day falls again

Beautiful night after Hurricane Irene
The beat of the heart

the fall of a sigh

the rise of a prayer

the flash of a star

throught the limitless sky

the dreams that we dare.

Hurricane Irene

My family and I are very fortunate that we make it through the hurricane safe and with no major damage to the house or barn. The field next to us flooded a little but  nothing too serious. Our trees not so much, we have around 8 very big old trees in the back yard ,3 in the fron, and 5 on the side. A lot of big branches fell from the high winds. I told my mom it looks like a tree massacre .
